Success Story: Gungun Kumari

Gungun Kumari, an eight-year-old from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, faced a life-altering tragedy three years ago when a playful moment outside turned into a dreadful accident, resulting in a severe injury to her leg. Rushed to a nearby hospital, her left leg had to be amputated during treatment. The carefree laughter and mischief that defined Gungun’s life suddenly became confined to one leg, and every step forward became a struggle.

Witnessing their daughter’s pain, Gungun’s parents were devastated. However, fate smiled upon them when they heard about the Narayan Seva Sansthan’s massive free artificial limb and calipers measurement camp scheduled for September 10, 2023, in Kanpur. The camp, akin to a miracle in the arid landscape of despair, offered hope. Gungun’s foot was measured at the camp, and later, at the Fitment Camp organized on November 26, she was fitted with an artificial limb. The training provided during the camp empowered her to walk without assistance comfortably.

Expressing deep gratitude, Gungun’s parents acknowledge the institution and the benefactors, stating that the gift of an artificial limb has bestowed a new life upon their daughter. This heartening transformation exemplifies the impact of Narayan Seva Sansthan in bringing back the vibrancy of life.
